Revive Your Soul

Many people today own Bibles, know some Scripture, and even attend church regularly but they rarely spend time in God’s Word. It is alarming how many of us can name movies, athletes, and other pop culture trivia but yet don’t know much about God’s special revelation to man. What we need to learn is dependence on the word of God in our lives. Psalms 19: 7-11 illustrates how powerful God’s word can be if we dedicate ourselves to learning from its truth. “The instructions of the Lord are perfect, reviving the soul. The decrees of the Lord are trustworthy, making wise the simple. The commandments of the Lord are right, bringing joy to the heart. The commands of the Lord are clear, giving insight for living. Reverence for the Lord is pure, lasting forever. The laws of the Lord are true; each one is fair. They are more desirable than gold, even the finest gold. They are sweeter than honey, even honey dripping from the comb. They are a warning to your servant, a great reward for those who obey them.” (NLT) If we do not passionately pursue the truths of the Bible in our own hearts, we are disobeying God’s command. We cannot argue with others or shift responsibility to others. When we do not devote our lives to the inerrant word of God we are arguing that we know better than God. Let’s put off pride and put on humility for God’s glory. Learning His word will help us walk in His will and because He loves us…. His will is the best possibility for us all. God bless you as you pursue the riches of His glory!
